I went this one in Oakland, and it still seems like Highway 61 had a bad 3-way with Truckin and Roadhouse Blues. Or maybe secretly they're the same song.

After listening, I definitely hear you. If Bob had slipped in a "bomp a chu kong kong" or "Ashen Lady" it might have passed unnoticed!

Have any of y'all ever heard "Motorcycle" by Love And Rockets? Same riff... again! :)

As far as Bobby D. goes... I love his live concerts in the 60's, 90's and 00's... but the 70's-80's concerts, he rarely seems to give a shit (with or without the GD), especially about his singing. He always always always delivers the lyrics as fast as he can, in one big out-of breath rush, as if he can't breathe properly while onstage (maybe he couldn't.)

"takethisbadgeoffame... (vamp)
ican'twearitanymore (vamp)
it'sgettintoodarktosee (vamp) ... you get the picture...

I see your point, yet I never cared for the Rolling Thunder shows much either (more because of the re-arrangements, then Zimmy's singing).

And if you haven't heard the Clash show at Wolfgang's Vault, you might like it...

Let us not forget the definitive love song...and the definitive version.
